If Jason Bourne were a teenaged girl…

Jocelyn Steely was kidnapped as a child and raised in North Korea as a spy. When her agency sends her to the U.S. to infiltrate the very group her parents once worked for, Jocelyn jumps at the chance to turn double agent and finish off her kidnappers once and for all. She convinces the head of the American spy agency to trust her, but it’s not quite as simple as that: Jocelyn has to fight the withdrawal symptoms from the drug that the North Koreans used to keep her in line, and her new fellow spies refuse to trust their former adversary. Worst of all, there might be some new information to uncover about her parents - if she even wants to find out.

This action-packed spy thriller is part Gallagher Girls, part Alex Rider, and part Bourne Identity.

Character playlist #1 (for main character):

Jocelyn Steely, codename Raven, was kidnapped by North Korean spy agency KATO as a child. Now after ten years, she’s reaching out to her enemies at the International Defense Agency (IDA) to escape her kidnappers and get revenge. Here are some songs that best describe Jocelyn.

1. “Real World” The All-American Rejects
A lot of this song describes what KATO was like for Jocelyn. She knew it wasn’t the real world and that there was a world outside of the North Korean agency, but this was her real world now, and she had to find a way to live in it.

2. “The Kill” 30 Seconds to Mars
There was only so much of KATO Jocelyn could take. She wanted to get out before they broke her.

3. “Battle Cry” Imagine Dragons
The only person capable of stopping KATO is Jocelyn. And she knows if KATO finds out about her plans, there’s nothing anyone can do to save her.

4. “Confident” Demi Lovato
Jocelyn knows she’s the best agent KATO had, and she’s equally as sure she can take anyone at the IDA. She’s confident, and she doesn’t see any reason she shouldn’t be.

I’m also linking to the official video for this one because it has some serious Crossing the Line vibes:

5. “Love Runs Out” One Republic
Jocelyn has a plan to escape KATO and bring them down. She has her mind made up and she has no intentions of letting that go.

6. “Welcome Home, Son” Radical Face
Jocelyn struggles a lot with sleep and nightmares when she first arrives at the IDA, but she has an easier time as she settles in.

7. “Monsters” Ruelle
This is how Jocelyn was at KATO. She was the villain. She shot to kill, and she was out for blood.

8. “My Demons” Startset
This song speaks a lot to what KATO did Jocelyn. They wanted to break her, and they did get to her enough to control her. Now she’s trying to break free before it’s too late.

9. “The Phoenix” Fall Out Boy
This song speaks to Jocelyn’s transformation with the IDA. She used to fight against them, and now they’ve helped her reshape her skills so they can work together.

10. “The Resolution” Jack’s Mannequin
While Jocelyn hates the things she’s done for KATO, she knows she did what she had to do survive. She’s not proud of what she’s done, but she’s not looking to be forgiven for it either.

11. “Ghosts” BANNERS
Jocelyn is very much haunted by the ghosts of her past, and yet she’s still fighting to escape them.

12. “Superheroes” The Script
Jocelyn’s fueled by turning her pain into power.

13. “The Stand” Monty Are I
Jocelyn did her best to keep her head down in KATO and stay out of trouble. They tried to knock her down but she’s still standing.

14. “She’s a Rebel” Green Day
Jocelyn is most definitely a dangerous rebel as far as KATO is concerned.

15. “Jungle” X Ambassadors, Jamie N Commons
A lot of Jocelyn’s development in this book is about her learning to trust others and to trust them to help her. She’ll let them follow her into some intense jungles.
