WoW: The Ship Beyond Time (TGFE #2) by Heidi Heilig

My TBR list is always growing and I thought it would be fun to share my anticipation for those books with all of you. This is not my own original meme; it belongs to Breaking the Spine. It specifically spotlights upcoming releases. As it implies in the title, I'll be posting this meme on Wednesdays. Please feel free to comment and let me know what books you guys are waiting on as well!

The Ship Beyond Time by Heidi Heilig
Publisher: Greenwillow Books
Expected Pub. Date: March 28th 2017
Buy it: Amazon | B&N | Book Depository
Nix has spent her whole life journeying to places both real and imagined aboard her time-traveling father’s ship. And now it’s finally time for her to take the helm. Her father has given up his obsession to save her mother—and possibly erase Nix’s existence—and Nix’s future lies bright before her. Until she learns that she is destined to lose the one she loves. But her relationship with Kash—best friend, thief, charmer extraordinaire—is only just beginning. How can she bear to lose him? How can she bear to become as adrift and alone as her father?

Desperate to change her fate, Nix takes her crew to a mythical utopia to meet another Navigator who promises to teach her how to manipulate time. But everything in this utopia is constantly changing, and nothing is what it seems—not even her relationship with Kash. Nix must grapple with whether anyone can escape her destiny, her history, her choices. Heidi Heilig weaves fantasy, history, and romance together to tackle questions of free will, fate, and what it means to love another person. But at the center of this adventure are the extraordinary, multifaceted, and multicultural characters that leap off the page, and an intricate, recognizable world that has no bounds. The sequel—and conclusion—to the indie darling The Girl from Everywhere will be devoured by fans of Rachel Hartman and Maggie Stiefvater. Includes black-and-white maps.

How much I've missed Nix, and her swoony shipmate Kash . . . It feels like it's been ages!. Of course, I'm immensely excited that we get another adventure with these two, but upon reading the synopsis for The Ship Beyond Time, there's talk of the possibility of losing Kash?!

Heidi, you can't do this to me. I simply won't allow it. If I have to climb into this book and be at Nix's side to make sure that doesn't happen, I will.

Dramatics aside, I can't wait to get my hands on this book! If you haven't yet, check out my review of The Girl From Everywhere! You can also read my interview with Heidi here ^_^

Heidi grew up in Hawaii where she rode horses and raised peacocks, and then she moved to New York City and grew up even more, as one tends to do. Her favorite thing, outside of writing, is travel, and she has haggled for rugs in Morocco, hiked the trails of the Ko'olau Valley, and huddled in a tent in Africa while lions roared in the dark.

She holds an MFA from New York University in Musical Theatre Writing, of all things, and she's written books and lyrics for shows including The Time Travelers Convention, Under Construction, and The Hole. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband and their pet snake, whose wings will likely grow in any day now.

  4. I don't generally care for timetravel stories, but being able to go to different locations and not just back and forth in time made all the difference to me with The Girl From Everywhere. I still had some other issues with it, but seeing that she was a debut author I am definitely going to read the Ship Beyond Time. :)
