Waiting on Wednesday: From Twinkle With Love & My Plain Jane

My TBR list is always growing and I thought it would be fun to share my anticipation for those books with all of you. This is not my own original meme; it belongs to Breaking the Spine. It specifically spotlights upcoming releases. As it implies in the title, I'll be posting this meme on Wednesdays. Please feel free to comment and let me know what books you guys are waiting on as well!

This week is dedicated to two companion novels that I am dying to get my hands on!

From Twinkle, with Love by Sandhya Menon
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Expected Pub. Date: June 5, 2018

Aspiring filmmaker and wallflower Twinkle Mehra has stories she wants to tell and universes she wants to explore, if only the world would listen. So when fellow film geek Sahil Roy approaches her to direct a movie for the upcoming Summer Festival, Twinkle is all over it. The chance to publicly showcase her voice as a director? Dream come true. The fact that it gets her closer to her longtime crush, Neil Roy—a.k.a. Sahil’s twin brother? Dream come true x 2.

When mystery man “N” begins emailing her, Twinkle is sure it’s Neil, finally ready to begin their happily-ever-after. The only slightly inconvenient problem is that, in the course of movie-making, she’s fallen madly in love with the irresistibly adorkable Sahil.

Twinkle soon realizes that resistance is futile: The romance she’s got is not the one she’s scripted. But will it be enough?

Told through the letters Twinkle writes to her favorite female filmmakers, From Twinkle, with Love navigates big truths about friendship, family, and the unexpected places love can find you.

Update Oct 20th, 2017: Sandhya let me know that this book is not actually a companion after posting but a standalone BUT I'm excited about it nonetheless.

~

When Dimple Met Rishi is my favorite contemporary of 2017, so it's needless (but essential) to say that I'm beyond excited for From Twinkle With Love!

The two covers are going to look amazing side by side, and I can't wait for more of Sandhya Menon's sassy dialogue and swoony prose.

Sandhya Menon is the New York Times bestselling author of the smash-hit When Dimple Met Rishi and From Twinkle, with Love. She was born and raised in India on a steady diet of Bollywood movies and street food, and blames this upbringing for her obsession with happily-ever-afters, bad dance moves, and pani puri. Now she lives in Colorado, where she’s on a mission to (gently) coerce her husband and children watch all 3,220 Bollywood movies she claims as her favorite. Visit her online at SandhyaMenon.com.

You may think you know the story. After a miserable childhood, penniless orphan Jane Eyre embarks on a new life as a governess at Thornfield Hall. There, she meets one dark, brooding Mr. Rochester. Despite their significant age gap (!) and his uneven temper (!!), they fall in love—and, Reader, she marries him. (!!!)

Or does she?

Prepare for an adventure of Gothic proportions, in which all is not as it seems, a certain gentleman is hiding more than skeletons in his closets, and one orphan Jane Eyre, aspiring author Charlotte Bronte, and supernatural investigator Alexander Blackwood are about to be drawn together on the most epic ghost hunt this side of Wuthering Heights.

I was late to the party when it came to My Lady Jane, but that will not be the case with My Plain Jane.

I already know that this book is going to be fun and hilarious. The main difference between my reading experience of My Lady Jane vs. My Plain Jane is that since I read both Jane Eyre (loooove) and Wuthering Heights (haaaate), I will know the original subject matter. Either way, I am so ready for their twists on these classics.

Cynthia Hand is the New York Times bestselling author of the Unearthly trilogy, The Last Time We Say Goodbye, and My Lady Jane (with Brodi Ashton and Jodi Meadows). Before turning to writing for young adults, Cynthia studied literary fiction, and earned both an MFA and a PhD in fiction writing. She currently resides in Idaho, where she teaches creative writing at Boise State University. Visit her online at www.cynthiahandbooks.com.

BRODI ASHTON is also the author of Everneath, a VOYA Perfect 10 for 2011; Everbound; and Evertrue; and the coauthor, with Cynthia Hand and Jodi Meadows, of My Lady Jane. She received a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in international relations from the London School of Economics. Brodi lives in Utah with her family. Jodi Meadows wants to be a ferret when she grows up and she has no self-control when it comes to yarn, ink, or outer space. Still, she manages to write books. She is the author of the Incarnate trilogy, the Orphan Queen duology, and the Fallen Isles trilogy and coauthor of the New York Times bestseller My Lady Jane. Visit her at www.jodimeadows.com.
