Wicked Saints Blog Tour: Q&A With Emily A. Duncan

Hi guys, today I'm sharing with you my interview with Emily A. Duncan! This book has been on my TBR forever, and I can't wait to read it. I hope you guys enjoy this post!

Wicked Saints (Gothic Something Dark and Holy #1) by Emily A. Duncan
Publisher: Wednesday Books
Pub Date: April 2, 2019

A girl who can speak to gods must save her people without destroying herself.

A prince in danger must decide who to trust.

A boy with a monstrous secret waits in the wings.

Together, they must assassinate the king and stop the war.

In a centuries-long war where beauty and brutality meet, their three paths entwine in a shadowy world of spilled blood and mysterious saints, where a forbidden romance threatens to tip the scales between dark and light. Wicked Saints is the thrilling start to Emily A. Duncan’s devastatingly Gothic Something Dark and Holy trilogy.

EMILY A. DUNCAN works as a youth services librarian. She received a Master’s degree in library science from Kent State University, which mostly taught her how to find obscure Slavic folklore texts through interlibrary loan systems. When not reading or writing, she enjoys playing copious amounts of video games and dungeons and dragons. Wicked Saints is her first book. She lives in Ohio.

What was the strangest/most unique thing you had to research for this book?

I am the worst at describing clothes so do you know how many hours I spent researching clothes for this book. So many. So many! And then I was anachronistic with it anyway! Anyway medieval Slavic fashion is the best, they have the most amazing hats. Also, so many Slavic folktales have a character following a magic ball. This is something that occurs with alarming regularity.

Which of your own characters do you personally identify with, and why?

Serefin! There are pieces of me in all of them, but Serefin and I think the same way and I, too, am just extremely tired all the time.

What are your favorite and least favorite scenes to write?

My favorite scenes are arguments and anything with dialogue (so. everything.) my least favorite are action scenes. I take forever with them and I always feel like they make little sense and do readers even read them? I don’t know! They’re not my favorites.

Is this book on your TBR? Are you adding it now? Let me know!
