Waiting on Wednesday: Escaping from Houdini & LIFEL1K3

My TBR list is always growing and I thought it would be fun to share my anticipation for those books with all of you. This is not my own original meme; it belongs to Breaking the Spine. It specifically spotlights upcoming releases. As it implies in the title, I'll be posting this meme on Wednesdays. Please feel free to comment and let me know what books you guys are waiting on as well!

This week's theme: AUTO-BUY AUTHORS!

Escaping from Houdini (Stalking Jack the Ripper #3) by Kerri Maniscalco
Publisher: Jimmy Patterson
Pub. Date: September 18th 2018
Pre-Order Links: Amazon | Barnes and Noble | Indigo
In this third installment in the #1 bestselling Stalking Jack the Ripper series, a luxurious ocean liner becomes a floating prison of scandal, madness, and horror when passengers are murdered one by one…with nowhere to run from the killer. . .

Audrey Rose Wadsworth and her partner-in-crime-investigation, Thomas Cresswell, are en route to New York to help solve another blood-soaked mystery. Embarking on a week-long voyage across the Atlantic on the opulent RMS Etruria, they’re delighted to discover a traveling troupe of circus performers, fortune tellers, and a certain charismatic young escape artist entertaining the first-class passengers nightly.

But then, privileged young women begin to go missing without explanation, and a series of brutal slayings shocks the entire ship. The strange and disturbing influence of the Moonlight Carnival pervades the decks as the murders grow ever more freakish, with nowhere to escape except the unforgiving sea. It’s up to Audrey Rose and Thomas to piece together the gruesome investigation as even more passengers die before reaching their destination. But with clues to the next victim pointing to someone she loves, can Audrey Rose unravel the mystery before the killer’s horrifying finale?
Can we talk about how GORGEOUS this cover is? Not only is it perfectly in-line with the covers of Stalking Jack the Ripper and Hunting Prince Dracula, but it would make me want to read this one desperately, even if I had never read the first two books (which I have, and they are fantastic!) Anyway, I hope you guys aren't sleeping on this series, because it is phenomenal and I cannot say enough good things about it.

Kerri Maniscalco grew up in a semi-haunted house outside NYC where her fascination with gothic settings began. In her spare time she reads everything she can get her hands on, cooks all kinds of food with her family and friends, and drinks entirely too much tea while discussing life’s finer points with her cats.

Her first novel in this series, Stalking Jack the Ripper, debuted at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list. It incorporates her love of forensic science and unsolved history.

On an island junkyard beneath a sky that glows with radiation, a deadly secret lies buried in the scrap.
Seventeen-year-old Eve isn't looking for trouble--she's too busy looking over her shoulder. The robot gladiator she spent months building has been reduced to a smoking wreck, she's on the local gangster's wanted list, and the only thing keeping her grandpa alive is the money she just lost to the bookies. Worst of all, she's discovered she can somehow destroy machines with the power of her mind, and a bunch of puritanical fanatics are building a coffin her size because of it.

If she's ever had a worse day, Eve can't remember it. The problem is, Eve has had a worse day--one that lingers in her nightmares and the cybernetic implant where her memories used to be. Her discovery of a handsome android named Ezekiel--called a "Lifelike" because they resemble humans--will bring her world crashing down and make her question whether her entire life is a lie.

With her best friend Lemon Fresh and her robotic sidekick Cricket in tow, Eve will trek across deserts of glass, battle unkillable bots, and infiltrate towering megacities to save the ones she loves... and learn the truth about the bloody secrets of her past.

When Jay Kristoff writes a new book, this is me:

It literally doesn't matter what it's about, I just know it's going to be amazing. Even if it's not what I would typically reach for, I know it's going to destroy my feels in the best way possible.

...Plus, a female protagonist that can destroy machines with just her mind?

Jay Kristoff is the New York Times and internationally bestselling author of THE LOTUS WAR, THE ILLUMINAE FILES and THE NEVERNIGHT CHRONICLE. He is a winner of the Aurealis Award, nominee for the David Gemmell Morningstar and Legend awards, named in the Kirkus and Amazon Best Teen Books list and published in over twenty countries, most of which he has never visited. Being the holder of an arts degree, he has no education to speak of. He is 6’7 and has approximately 13030 days to live. He abides in Melbourne with his secret agent kung-fu assassin wife, and the world’s laziest Jack Russell.

He does not believe in happy endings.

  12. HAHA I'M HERE FOR THESE BOOKS TOO. I haven't read SJTR's sequel, but it's probably as fun and exciting as the first book. And LIFEL1K3 sounds like so much fun! It'll be perfect after the hole in my heart that will probably be where Obsidio is, lol.

  16. Stalking Jack the Ripper is buried somewhere in my TBR list. I can't believe a third is nearly out.

The only author I've ever pre-ordered all books for is Sarah J. Maas. She has yet to let me down.. so here I am waiting patiently for A Court of Thorns and Roses book #4 and Throne of Glass #7.
