Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Finished Series I Have YET To Finish

We've seen this meme on a lot of blogs and decided to join in. This meme was created by The Broke and Bookish. Every Tuesday there is a new topic that involves a list of ten books.

This week's topic: Ten Finished Series I Have YET to Finish (Nikki's List)

1) The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare
Starting a large new series is an imposing task, especially when your TBR pile is getting bigger by the second. As soon as I began City of Bones, I was hooked! As much as I want the next book right now, I haven't had the chance to get to it yet. I'm sure it won't be long until I have City of Ashes in my hands, but until then I'll just stare at the cover longingly.

2) Delirium by Lauren Oliver
I have no idea why I have not read Pandemonium yet. It has been on the top of my TBR list for so long, but always gets pushed down by other (more current) books. With how Delirium ended, I have been dying to know what happens next, and I hope that it is not too long before I get my answers.

3) Uglies by Scott Westerfeld
I have already read Uglies and Pretties, but I couldn't bring myself to read Specials. Although I started the third book of the series, I was really not enjoying it, and I didn't like the direction the series was going. I eventually plan on finishing these books, but they are pretty low on my TBR pile.

4) Divergent by Veronica Roth
Divergent and Insurgent are two books I really enjoyed, but then I heard a few spoilers for the final book and decided against reading it. I am not ready for the catastrophe that is Allegiant, and this way I can imagine my own happy ending for the series.

B: YES! Stay in your happy place. The one where Four and Tris are married and have babies and everyone is alive and healthy.

5) Legend by Marie Lu
If I have learned one thing from this post, it is that I have a problem with not finishing book series. Unfortunately, Legend is one of them. I completed Legend and Prodigy, and have yet to start Champion. Hopefully, I will get to it soon.

B: I've only read Legend and I'm afraid of reading the other two books because I've heard a lot of negative things about them..

6) The Giver by Lois Lowry
I loved The Giver, but until the making of this post, I thought it was a standalone. Now that I know otherwise, it hopefully won't be long until I'm picking the other three books up. I have actually read multiple other books written by Lois Lowry, including Number the Stars, and I would recommend them all. She has a great writing style, and I find her plots to be very interesting.

7) Eragon by Christopher Paolini
When I first started reading Eragon, I labeled it as boring and completely stopped reading it. When I came back to the book a few years later and read farther ahead, I began to love it. It was well-written and had an awesome storyline, so naturally I can't wait to read Eldest and Inheritance.

B: Yeah, you labeled it boring after a couple of pages, despite your wonderful sister telling you how wrong you were. All that is left to say is: I told you so. On a side note, I haven't finished these series either XD

8) The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis
Another long series that I have barely started. Yay! I've always meant to finish the other books in the series, but I have never had the time to read so many at once. I enjoyed The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, but even though I want to eventually read all of the other books, I don't know when I will get a chance to.

B: This is on my book bucket list =)

9) A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
Even though A Series of Unfortunate Events was one I almost got around to finishing, it became very repetitive for me. The series is so long, and each book had an identical storyline to the last. Eventually, I didn't enjoy what I was reading anymore, and I stopped in the middle of the series.

B: I felt the same way about these books, I think I got up to book 5 before I couldn't keep reading the same story over and over again. They were good but I think I just grew out of them.

10) The School for Good and Evil by Soman Chainani
This series is one that I started and won't continue. I really disliked the first book, and I thought that the plot was inconsistent and confusing. It just didn't make sense to me, which is why I never picked up the sequels or even considered reading them. Even though a lot of people love The School for Good and Evil, it was not for me.

  1. Wow! We have quite a lot of series in common! I haven't finished Divergent, Delirium, Uglies, TMI or The Chronicles of Narnia. I just practically gave up on Allegiant and the Uglies series but the other ones I'm hoping to finish one day.
    Great list!
    Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I finished Divergent, Legend, TMI, and skimmed my way to the end of Delirium (I wasn't impressed with the ending of that series, even less than the way Divergent ended)
I read the first book of The Uglies, and just didn't care enough to finish the series at all. Pretty diverse list though. I hope you get to the rest of TMI soon. It's one of my favorite series.

  4. I felt the same way about a Series of Unfortunate Events. I after book 4 or 5 I felt a bigger plot line was coming and I got up to 10 and had to have a break. I still think a bigger plot is coming to I will start it again at some point but not just yet.

    1. I felt that way, too. The books always made me feel like there was a twist coming, but they still ended up the same way

  5. I still need to read the last two books in the The School for Good and Evil trilogy and I also have Delirium on my list. I totally forgot to add The Giver Quartet to my TTT. TMI is fabulous and I hope you pick up The Infernal Devices series as well.

    1. I've heard a lot about how great TMI is, and I really enjoyed the first book. I'll definitely finish that series when I can, and I hope I can finish the other series I like too

  6. The Mortal Instruments is a long series! Plus it keep getting more connected and spin-off series so the list keeps growing! I really want to read something by Lauren Oliver, because her writing is beautiful from what I have read (which is the first couple of pages of Delirium)

  7. I actually read two of the books in The Giver Quartet but had no idea they were related until very recently. In fact, I'm still not seeing how they're part of the same series, although they were both good!

The Mortal Instruments series is one of my favorites, definitely worth finishing. Cassandra Clare's Infernal Devices trilogy is excellent, too. If you haven't read it yet I definitely recommend it! :-)

  9. Oooh, A Series of Unfortunate Events! I enjoyed the first one but somehow never got around to reading the rest. I enjoyed the Uglies series, but if you're not liking the series so far I doubt the last two books would change your mind. And I actually ended up reading one of the companion books to The Giver (Gathering Blue) before I had even heard of The Giver!
