My TBR list is always growing and I thought it would be fun to share my anticipation for those books with all of you. This is not my own original meme; it belongs to Breaking the Spine. It specifically spotlights upcoming releases. As it implies in the title, I'll be posting this meme on Wednesdays. Please feel free to comment and let me know what books you guys are waiting on as well!

From bestselling author duo Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff comes the exciting finale in the trilogy that broke the mold and has been called "stylistically mesmerizing" and "out-of-this-world-awesome."
Kady, Ezra, Hanna, and Nik narrowly escaped with their lives from the attacks on Heimdall station and now find themselves crammed with 2,000 refugees on the container ship, Mao. With the jump station destroyed and their resources scarce, the only option is to return to Kerenza--but who knows what they'll find seven months after the invasion? Meanwhile, Kady's cousin, Asha, survived the initial BeiTech assault and has joined Kerenza's ragtag underground resistance. When Rhys--an old flame from Asha's past--reappears on Kerenza, the two find themselves on opposite sides of the conflict. With time running out, a final battle will be waged on land and in space, heros will fall, and hearts will be broken.
Do I really need to explain how I'm excited I am for this book? ... Yes?

Beyond the Empire and within it, the threat of war looms ever larger.
The Blood Shrike, Helene Aquilla, is assailed on all sides. Emperor Marcus, haunted by his past, grows increasingly unstable, while the Commandant capitalizes on his madness to bolster her own power. As Helene searches for a way to hold back the approaching darkness, her sister's life and the lives of all those in the Empire hang in the balance.
Far to the east, Laia of Serra knows the fate of the world lies not in the machinations of the Martial court, but in stopping the Nightbringer. But while hunting for a way to bring him down, Laia faces unexpected threats from those she hoped would aid her, and is drawn into a battle she never thought she'd have to fight.
And in the land between the living and the dead, Elias Veturius has given up his freedom to serve as Soul Catcher. But in doing so, he has vowed himself to an ancient power that will stop at nothing to ensure Elias's devotion--even at the cost of his humanity.
Looking at this cover, it feels like it's saying:
Um, YES!
I need to know what's going to happen to my babies. They have all been through so much and I just want them to be happy but Sabaa Tahir keeps stabbing me over and over again.
So, basically...
Spent my childhood in the Mojave Desert, where I didn’t have cable and thus chose to entertain myself with books and radio. My parents assured me that I wanted to become a doctor, but a brief stint working in a hospital changed my mind.
I left the desert for university at 17, graduated from UCLA a few years later, and went to work for The Washington Post directly after. Five years later, I left the Post and started working on a book.
If I could be anything, I’d be a space explorer, but a cool one, like Jean-Luc Picard.
I’m represented by Alexandra Machinist at ICM.

This week it looks like I'm waiting for books that are going to crush my soul into a million pieces, and I'll probably thank them for it haha.
What are you guys waiting for this week? Happy books? Books that will hurt? Which ones? Let me know!
I went for one that looks like it's going to be a heart-wrencher, too this week LOL. Maybe we just don't want to be happy. xD I have no excused for not having read either of these series--especially with my intense love of Amie Kaufman's Starbound series. I'll fix it someday.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that we don't want to be happy, it just happens that the best books cause a lot of pain haha. You really need to read both of these series and The Illuminae Files are such fast reads!
DeleteOh yes! Most excellent picks!! So ready for both of these!!
ReplyDeleteHere's my WoW
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Thank you! Hopefully we both love them ^_^
DeleteOkay same with you on Obsidio. MY BODY IS READY FOR THAT BOOK AND IT CAN JUST TAKE ME AND RUIN ME.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the new covers for An Ember in the Ashes! It was love at first sight, okay. BUT book 1 wasn't a hit for me (around a 2.5-3 starish read? I had some grapples with the characters) so I still need to catch up. These new covers got me hyped though so perhaps soon!

IT WILL CRUSH US, AILA!
DeleteI'm so glad that the new covers make you want to give the second book a shot. I would love to see your thoughts on A Torch Against the Night.
I like the sound of both your picks, but I really, really need The Illuminae Files Trilogy. I heard so many great things about it, I feel like I should go grab all the books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and stopping by my blog earlier :)
Yes, you really need to read The Illuminae Files! They are really fast reads and they are just amazing.
DeleteNo problem, thank you for stopping by mine ^_^
So many people had been debating about whether the Tahir books were going to be a duology or trilogy last year and then I lost track of the debate, but I am happy to hear that everyone is getting more of the story! Great gifs. :)
ReplyDeleteI believe it's going to be 4 books now? I could be wrong. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteYa know it can be a painful journey sometimes but so worth it right? Hope you come out on top with these books. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, it's often worth it! I hope both of these series are on your TBR!
DeleteThanks for stopping by~
Great choices. I've not read any series but have both Illuminae books on my shelf. I love the cover for this new one as well. So they did a cover change on the other series. I like this one better than the previous but I bet a lot of people will be angry.
ReplyDeleteYou should read Illuminae and Gemina asap! I bet you will love them! And they are very fast reads despite their size.
DeleteThere is a lot of conversation about the new covers for An Ember in the Ashes series but the most important thing is what's behind the cover anyway.
Thanks for stopping by!
These are both really good picks. They both sound sooo good.
ReplyDeleteJenea's Book Obsession's Can't-Wait Wednesday

DeleteI'm dying for "Reaper the the Gate" to be released. Love this series so much. <3 I can't believe we still have to wait one more year - this two-year waiting is killing me. But at least I know the story won't be rushed.
ReplyDeleteHappy readings! ;)
Hopefully the year will fly by! And I agree it's better for the story not to be rushed.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
I haven't read either of these series, Brittany. I hope you enjoy reading both of your picks this week.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I will! You need to read them because they are a both amazing series ^_^
DeleteA REAPER AT THE GATES! I am sooo excited for that one! And of course, also for Obsidio, but I still have Gemina to read first. Also, how amazing are these covers?
ReplyDeleteThe covers are great! And you must read Gemina as soon as possible, you're missing out!
DeleteAwesome! Finally seeing some sequels to some good series! Great picks!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my WoW!

DeleteOBSIDIO SO MUCH. I CAN'T EVEN WITH HOW MUCH I NEED THAT BOOK. Because obviously I don't want happiness. *sighs at self's warped priorities* 😂😂 I'm looking forward to All The Crooked Saints (haha um obviously) and also Wonder Woman and The Art Of Feeling and The Arsonist!!
ReplyDeleteHappiness is for non-booklovers and who needs those people? lol I can't wait for you to read Wonder Woman because your reviews are amazing and I know you're going to love that book!
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
Oh gosh yes these two are very high on my most anticipated of 2018! This post has entirely too much awesome in it! I hope you enjoy these books when you get the chance to read them, Brittany!

I haven't even read Ember in the Ashes!! I know, I really need to! But as for Obsidio....YES!!! I literally cannot wait! I don't think I'm ready and I'm ready all at the same time! I'm looking forward to seeing how everything really goes down. :) Great picks this week!

Oh, yeah, both of these books, wow, I want to read them, as well! I've already preordered Obsido! Great picks! Thanks for stopping by! Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteGood decision re: preordering Obsidio
DeleteHappy Reading!
Great pick! I finally started the Illuminae series a few weeks ago and am in love with it.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're loving The Illuminae Files, they are amazing books!
DeleteObsidio is going to be my next WoW to, as soon as I get myself to actually make the post :D Can't wait for it!
ReplyDeleteYay! It's going to be an amazing book, I'm sure.
DeleteThanks for stopping by!
GOD I can't wait for Obsidio! The books in that series are SOO gorgeous! I'm a big fan of Jay Kristoff and Amie Kauffman, and I really need to read more of their other books.
ReplyDeleteAbout the cover change for An Ember in the Ashes series... not the BIGGEST fan. I am incredibly grateful that they are representing the diverse characters, but the design still looks a bit boring to me. This type of artwork for representing humans is just not my thing.
SUPER excited for both books, though!
Yes, they are so beautiful and not to mention, brilliant!
DeleteI totally hear you about the Ember covers. While I'm happy for what this means for marginalized people I love the old designs, and wish more that they combined the concepts. Either way though the book is going to be amazing.
Both books are going to be great though!
Such lovely picks sweetie :D I hope you will end up loving them both oh so much. <3 And ahh. I am DYING for Obsidio :D Eeeee. It's going to be so good. I hope ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I hope we both enjoy them ^_^
DeleteI've still got to read book two in both of these series! Great picks this week.
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Wednesday post
You should read them ASAP because they're both amazing!
