Waiting on Wednesday: Brightly Burning & A Conspiracy of Stars

My TBR list is always growing and I thought it would be fun to share my anticipation for those books with all of you. This is not my own original meme; it belongs to Breaking the Spine. It specifically spotlights upcoming releases. As it implies in the title, I'll be posting this meme on Wednesdays. Please feel free to comment and let me know what books you guys are waiting on as well!

This week, I'm sharing two tales set in the stars!

Brightly Burning by Alexa Donne
Publisher: HMH Books for Young Readers
Expected Pub. Date: May 1st, 2018
A romantic, cinematic, richly-imagined retelling of the classic Jane Eyre set in space, about seventeen-year-old Stella Ainsley, a mechanic who takes a governess job on board the private ship, the Rochester and falls in love with the ship's mysterious and troubled captain. For Marissa Meyer and Kiera Cass fans.

Seventeen-year-old Stella Ainsley wants just one thing: to go somewhere--anywhere--else. Her home is a floundering spaceship that offers few prospects, having been orbiting an ice-encased Earth for two hundred years. When a private ship hires her as a governess, Stella jumps at the chance. The captain of the Rochester, nineteen-year-old Hugo Fairfax, is notorious throughout the fleet for being a moody recluse and a drunk. But with Stella he's kind.

But the Rochester harbors secrets: Stella is certain someone is trying to kill Hugo, and the more she discovers, the more questions she has about his role in a conspiracy threatening the fleet.

Jane Eyre. Retelling. In. Space.

No other words are needed xD

Expected Pub. Date: January 2, 2018
Octavia has always dreamed of becoming a whitecoat, one of the prestigious N’Terra scientists who study the natural wonders of Faloiv. So when the once-secretive labs are suddenly opened to students, she leaps at the chance to see what happens behind their closed doors. However, she quickly discovers that all is not what it seems on Faloiv, and the experiments the whitecoats have been doing run the risk of upsetting the humans’ fragile peace with the Faloii, Faloiv’s indigenous people.

As secret after disturbing secret comes to light, Octavia finds herself on a collision course with the charismatic and extremist new leader of N’Terra’s ruling council. But by uncovering the mysteries behind the history she’s been taught, the science she’s lived by, and the truth about her family, she threatens to be the catalyst for an all-out war.

A female scientist challenging the government?

This book seems so fresh and like nothing I've ever read, so basically, I need it immediately.

  20. These sound a~ma~zing~!! As you know, I haven't been up to date with book releases so coming to your blog always catches me up somewhat. :P The retelling, the scientists challenging government scenario, the stories set in the stars - everything just sounds like my kind of book. I'm always on the lookout for new sci-fi's, and I can't wait for these. Wonderful post!
